DDx: traumatic olecranon bursitis, inflammatory olecranon bursitis, septic olecranon bursitis, gout-induced olecranon bursitis, rheumatoid arthritis, lateral epicondylitis, medial epicondylitis, elbow sprain, elbow osteoarthritis, cellulitis, fracture, tumor





PLAN:

Investigations:

- X-ray of elbow

- MRI of elbow

- Blood work: , 

- Bursa aspiration

Treatments:

- Ice application

- Avoid leaning on elbow

- Elbow pad for protection

-

- Steroid injection

Further care:

- Referral to orthopedic surgeon

- Follow-up in  

- Return if pain worsens, if new symptoms develop such as redness or swelling, or if symptoms do not improve with treatment

- Referral to ER if severe pain, inability to move the elbow, or fever occurs
