Laceration Repair

Laceration repair:

- Consent: obtained after discussion on the benefits and risks

- Preparation: Wound cleaned with normal saline, prepped with ‍alcoholchlorhexidinebetadine

- Anesthesia: ‍local with ‍lidocainelidocaine 1% without epilidocaine 2% without epibupivacainebupivacaine 0.5% ‍ cc

- Irrigation: ‍normal saline under pressure

- Exploration: superficial wound, no foreign body

- Sutures: ‍sutures, ‍ single stitches

- Dressing: Dry dressing applied, with antibiotic ointment

- Complications: ‍none, procedure ‍well toleratedfairly well toleratedpoorly toleratedinterrupted

- Instructions: wound care, ‍dressing change, analgesics, return if significant pain, redness, swelling, or fever

- Suture removal: in ‍571014 days

- Antibiotics: ‍CefadroxilCefadroxil 500mg po BID for 7 daysCephalexinCephalexin 500mg po QID for 7 daysAmoxicillin-clavulanateAmoxicillin-clavulanate 875mg-125mg po BID for 7 daysClindamycinClindamycin 300mg po TID for 7 days
