Steroid injection of the carpal tunnel:
- Consent: obtained after discussion on the benefits and risks, including pain, bleeding, infection, tendon tear, nerve damage
- Preparation:
- Medication: mg/cc cc and 1% lidocaine without epi cc
- Needle: needle
- Procedure: carpal tunnel injection with palmar approach, at the base of the wrist crease, just medial to the long palmar tendon
- Complications: , procedure
- Instructions: rest for 48 hours, wrist splint, ice, analgesics, return if significant pain, redness, swelling, or fever
