Carpal Tunnel Injection

Steroid injection of the ‍rightleft carpal tunnel:

- Consent: obtained after discussion on the benefits and risks, including pain, bleeding, infection, tendon tear, nerve damage

- Preparation: ‍alcoholchlorhexidinebetadine

- Medication: ‍Depo-MedrolKenalog ‍4080 mg/cc ‍0.250.500.7511.52 cc and 1% lidocaine without epi ‍0.250.500.7511.5234 cc

- Needle: needle ‍2527

- Procedure: carpal tunnel injection with palmar approach, at the base of the wrist crease, just medial to the long palmar tendon

- Complications: ‍none, procedure ‍well toleratedfairly well toleratedpoorly toleratedinterrupted

- Instructions: rest for 48 hours, wrist splint, ice, analgesics, return if significant pain, redness, swelling, or fever
